Windows Phone App Review: MyWalk

My Walk for Windows Phone

MyWalk is a elementary app for your Windows Phone that tracks your exercise walks. But the app goes a trivial further than simply tracking your walks.  Your walking efforts are presented accumulatively daily and as you walk about,  yous tin can monitor calories burned.MyWalk tracks your walking exercises past location services and past your Windows Phone move sensors.

You'll demand to choose if y'all're walking indoors or out and from there, all you lot need to practice is walk.

The main view of MyWalk includes an blithe atmospheric condition symbol for your current conditions (just tap on it to view the forecast). You lot have a little cartoon character, which represents you as you walk about, and likewise the character you will see how many steps y'all've taken.

You lot can swipe left or right to view the previous or side by side days efforts (along with weather information) and in borer the piffling anxiety or GPS icon (depending on the way you're using) will display your GPS status.  Equally yous burn calories, that total will appear in the lower right corner of the screen.  Tap on that number and you'll pull up a summary window showing how many calories you've burned and what food grouping the total is equivalent to (eastward.m. burger, fries, bag of candy, etc.).

MyWalk Screens

You have button controls at the bottom of the screen to return to the current day (the Me push) as well every bit to cull your walking mode, plow on a cadence footstep, and drop a power saving pall. From the three dot bill of fare you have options to see the Nearly Screen and access the Settings.

MyWalks' settings covers various general settings such as phonation feedback on/off, measurement choices, and turning on/off the automatic power saving curtain. The ability saving curtain is a lock screen of sorts that prevents accidental screen touches and conserves battery power while y'all are using MyWalk.  The pall is a nice affect simply won't forbid the dwelling house push or photographic camera button from taking you lot out of the app.  And then you'll need to exist conscientious how you handle your Windows Phone.  You also have options to calibrate your Windows Phone sensors, view a tutorial and charge per unit the app from within the settings.

MyWalk

One downside to MyWalk is with indoor walking, the app won't run under a lock screen.  You tin can switch over to the outdoor mode and rely on your GPS to track your distance but indoors GPS may non exist that reliable.

All in all, MyWalk is a decent app for your Windows Phone. It's presented well and gives you more than just a pedometer. The motility tracking of steps was a little temperamental when y'all bear your Windows Phone in hand.  Carrying the telephone in a pocket or belt example seemed to work best.MyWalk will alert you if the movement of the telephone isn't registering then you can adjust accordingly.  While the power curtain is a nice characteristic, it serves more as a power saver than locking the app in identify.  I wish it would office more than like the main Windows Telephone lock screen to prevent the home button from exiting the app.

However, MyWalk is worth a try if yous're looking for an app to track your steps and count your calories.  MyWalk is a free app that you can find here at the Windows Telephone Marketplace.
